Loy Krathong 2026 on the Chao Phraya — Thonburi side

Where to float near our hotel (Khlong San / Thonburi)

• Khlong San riverside piers: several piers and waterfront spots in our neighbourhood open for floating on the night — walkable from the hotel, authentic local atmosphere, far less crowded than the old-town side.
• ICONSIAM river park (Charoen Nakhon): in recent years it has hosted the biggest riverside Loy Krathong event on the Thonburi side — floating decks, shows and markets. One BTS Gold Line stop from Khlong San.
• Chao Phraya Sky Park + Memorial Bridge: not for floating, but the prettiest full-moon viewpoint — krathong lights shimmering down the whole river, ~15 minutes' walk away.
• Riverside temples: several Thonburi temples open their piers with temple fairs on the night. Ask us at check-in which ones are hosting this year — we're locals.

Tips for the night

• Timing: peak crowds are 19:00-21:00. Go before 18:30 for photos, or float after 21:30 when it's calmer but still magical.
• Choose a biodegradable krathong: banana trunk, leaves or bread — kind to the river you're making wishes on. Vendors at every venue sell them.
• Book early: riverside rooms sell out fast every year. Stay with us and walk to the river — no bridge traffic at 9 pm.
